Working together to develop the best possible sales strategy for the Asia-Pacific region: Attendees of the ION sales meeting.

June 1, 2010

Full speed ahead! - BU ION sales meeting in Beijing

In focus: Sustainable growth strategy for Asia

The development of a sustainable growth strategy for the Asia-Pacific Region (APAC) was the key issue at this year's APAC sales meeting of the Ion Exchange Resins Business Unit (ION) from May 11 to 14 in Beijing, China. In addition to sales representatives from 13 countries, the meeting was attended by Peter Steglich, Director Global Marketing, Jean-Marc Vesselle, Director Global Product Management and Stefan Hilger, Head of Marketing Industrial Water Treatment.

Over the course of the four-day event, the participants had the opportunity to exchange information on current developments and challenges in addition to developing sales plans and strategies. One of the focal points was the development of a sales budget for the new ION production site in Jhagadia, India which will commence operation in the second half of 2010. Start-up training and an introduction to the new membrane technology, presented and carried out by Jean-Marc Vesselle, were also on the agenda.

“Our sales figures for the Asia-Pacific Region are currently almost back at the 2008 level. Based on existing orders and pending projects for the second half of the year, we are extremely confident that the challenging goals set for the business unit in 2010 can be achieved,” explained Wolfgang Heuchel, Vice President of the ION APAC business unit.

The growth figures for ion exchange resins and membranes in the Asia-Pacific region are much higher compared to other countries. This gives the ION business unit confidence and indicates additional sales potential: “The added production capacity of our new plant in Jhagadia is coming at precisely the right time. This will bring us a major step closer to realising our growth objectives in the Asia-Pacific region,” so Peter Steglich.
